Happy Thanksgiving - Part 1

This Thanksgiving my oldest niece was a cheerleader in the Macy's Thanksgiving Party in New York City. Of course, that meant Gigi had to be there! We were all asked to go on the trip but knowing NYC and knowing how slow my mom moves... No thank you!

Her flight was to leave early on Tuesday morning and she was going to meet my brother at LaGuardia (LGA) who would be flying in from Fort Lauderdale with his family. Upon arriving at LGA he learned that our mom had not gotten on the flight. She woke up and wasn't feeling well. "I stood there, packed and ready to go but had a stomach ache and felt bad for anyone who would be sitting around me." she told me. Luckily we were able to get her on a flight at 2:30 that afternoon.

At 1:05 my phone rang, "Do you know a car service that can move quickly? Mom's taxi never showed up." Since I don't work far from her house I sprinted out the door to pick her up. When I arrived she asked me if I had been at a nearby friend's house. I told her I had been at the office and she freaked out that I was working over the holiday weekend... I'll remind you, it was the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.

Now it was 1:55 I was pulling up to departures at O'Hare, throwing $60 at the skycap yelling, "She's handicap, needs a wheelchair, and her flight leaves at 2:30. She can NOT miss it!!!"

From what I came to learn, she never actually spoke with anyone about getting a taxicab. She left a voicemail somewhere in hopes that someone would show up.

Happy Thanksgiving!
