The Family

Before I dive into the tales of my mom, I think we need to discuss my family. I am the youngest of 5 and there is a bit of an age gap (my oldest brother is 17 years older than me). My parents met in high school and were married after college. My dad was in finance and my mom was a stay at home mom. When I was in college people thought I had the perfect family structure. Since then things have changed bit.

Here is a quick breakdown of my family as it currently stands (we are numbered in order of birth, NOT in order of importance!):
1: Married with 2 boys and 1 girl. My sister repeatedly calls him a "dumbass."  I think the first thing she said to my oldest nephew when he was born was, "Your dad's a dumbass."
2: Married with 3 girls. We refer to him as "FI" which is short for "far island" because he never knows what is happening with our family.
3: He starts what we call the "second family". This group includes him, my sister and myself.
4: Divorced. Only girl. Single mom. Her story would require another blog.
5: Me! Single. Gay.

Parents: My mom was adopted, an old child, and was raised very wealthy. My dad was the oldest of 8 and raised very poor.  My father passed away in March 2011.
